Shirley Teasdale

Sara Teasdale (1884–1933) was an acclaimed American lyrical poet known for her classical simplicity and quiet intensity in exploring themes of love, beauty, and death. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she moved to New York City in 1916, won the Columbia Poetry Prize in 1918 (later renamed the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry), and became a prominent member of the city's poetry circle. Her life was marked by personal turmoil, including a divorce in 1929 and depression, leading her to commit suicide in 1933.
