Shirley Climo
Shirley Climo (1928–2012) was an American children's author born in Cleveland, Ohio, known for retelling folktales, myths, and legends from around the world in picture books and collections. She attended DePauw University but dropped out after her mother's death in 1949 to continue her mother's work as a scriptwriter for the WGAR-Radio children's program Fairytale Theatre, later becoming a freelance writer and authoring over 20 books. She lived many years in California and was a member of the Authors Guild and Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.[1][2][3]
