Shirley Campbell
Shirley Campbell Barr is a Costa Rican anthropologist, activist, and poet whose works empower black women and affirm their place in history.[1][3] Her iconic poem *Rotundamente negra* (Absolutely Black, 1994) symbolizes self-affirming pro-black messages in Afro-descendant women's movements across Latin America.[1] She holds degrees in anthropology from the University of Costa Rica, a Master's in International Cooperation for Development, and has worked extensively in cultural and social programs throughout Latin America and Africa.[3]
