Shigeru Mizuki

Shigeru Mizuki (born Mura Shigeru) was a renowned Japanese manga artist, illustrator, and folklorist best known for popularizing yōkai through his iconic series GeGeGe no Kitarō. A World War II veteran who lost an arm, he blended autobiography, history, and fantasy in his works to critique war, nationalism, and modernization. Mizuki was also a prolific researcher of global folklore, traveling extensively and earning recognition for his cultural contributions.[1][2]
