Shelley Parker-Chan is a non-binary Australian fantasy novelist best known for their Radiant Emperor duology, beginning with the Sunday Times bestseller She Who Became the Sun, which won the Astounding Award and British Fantasy Awards. Born in New Zealand to a Malaysian-Chinese mother and a white father, they are a former international development adviser who worked on human rights, gender equality, and LGBTQ+ rights in Southeast Asia. They live in Melbourne, Australia, and their works have been translated into 15 languages.
