Sheila M. Ogilvie
Sheilagh Ogilvie is a Canadian economic historian and academic specializing in how social and economic institutions shaped European development from the Middle Ages to modern times. Since 2020, she has been the Chichele Professor of Economic History at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of All Souls College, having previously taught for 31 years at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on guilds, serfdom, human capital, state capacity, and the economic history of Central and Eastern Europe.
