Sheila Lavelle

Sheila Lavelle (née Edmundson, 1939–2001) was an English children's author best known for her Ursula Bear and My Best Fiend series, the latter becoming a bestseller. After working as a clerk and teacher, she published her first book, Ursula’s Bear, in 1977 following 15 years of persistence and a home study course. In 1993, she was recognized as one of Britain's most successful children's authors, with over 50 books and 30 school reading scheme titles to her name.[1][2]
