Sheela Verma
Sheela Verma (1932–2024) was an Indian-American educator, linguist, and author born in Gaya, Bihar, India, as the youngest child of advocate Ishwari Nandan Prasad and pioneering educator Kamal Kamini Prasad. She earned a Master's in English from Patna Women’s College, married Prof. Manindra K. Verma in 1956, and authored textbooks on South Asian languages and a final book on Magahi folklore and folk tales, used worldwide. She passed away peacefully at her home in Columbus, Ohio, on September 7, 2024.
