Sean Murphy

Sean Murphy is the founder and executive director of 1455 Literary Arts, a nonprofit celebrating storytelling, and has published fiction, poetry, essays, and reviews for over twenty years. A recognized Zen meditation teacher in the American White Plum lineage with over 30 years of practice, he is the author of three novels including The Hope Valley Hubcap King, which won the Hemingway Award for a First Novel, and the nonfiction book One Bird, One Stone, which received the 2014 International Book Award in Eastern Religions. He has received fellowships such as the 2018 National Endowment for the Arts in Creative Writing and served as writer-in-residence at the Noepe Center on Martha’s Vineyard.
