School Mathematics Project
The School Mathematics Project (SMP) is a UK-based initiative that developed mathematics textbooks for secondary schools as part of the 1960s new mathematics educational movement. It originated from a 1961 conference at the University of Southampton chaired by Bryan Thwaites, prompted by the need to reform math teaching after the Sputnik launch. Formerly based in Southampton, it maintained ties with the university's mathematics education research group.[1]
