Sandy Gall

Henderson Alexander 'Sandy' Gall (1927–2025) was a Scottish journalist, author, and ITN news presenter with a career spanning over 50 years, beginning as a sub-editor at the Aberdeen Press and Journal in 1952, followed by roles at Reuters and ITN where he reported from major conflicts including Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion.[1][2] He authored several books on Afghanistan, produced BAFTA-nominated documentaries, founded Sandy Gall's Afghanistan Appeal charity in 1986, and served as Rector of the University of Aberdeen from 1978 to 1981.[1][3]
