Samuel White Baker

Sir Samuel White Baker was an English explorer, officer, naturalist, big game hunter, engineer, writer, and abolitionist who helped locate the sources of the Nile River and discovered Lake Albert[1][2]. He served as Governor-General of the Equatorial Nile Basin (later Province of Equatoria) between 1869 and 1873 and authored notable books including *The Rifle and the Hound in Ceylon* and *Wild Beasts and Their Ways*[1][2][3].
