Saint-John Perse

Saint-John Perse, born Alexis Leger, was a French poet and diplomat who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1960. His verse, known for its lyrical grandeur and exotic imagery, often drew from his childhood in the Caribbean and his later travels. He spent much of his diplomatic career in Asia and later opposed the Vichy regime, living in exile in the United States during World War II.
