S. L. Bhyrappa (full name Santeshivara Lingannaiah Bhyrappa) was a renowned Indian novelist, philosopher, and screenwriter who wrote primarily in Kannada. Born into a Hoysala Karnataka Brahmin family, he authored twenty-four novels over five decades, starting with Bheemakaya in 1958, known for their unique themes, structure, and characterization, and he received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1975.[1]
