S L Loney
Sidney Luxton Loney was a British mathematician and educator born in Tiverton, England, in 1860. He excelled at Tonbridge School, graduated as 3rd Wrangler from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge in 1882, and served as Professor of Mathematics at Royal Holloway College, London until his retirement in 1920. He is renowned for his influential mathematics textbooks, including 'Elements of Statics and Dynamics' and 'Plane Trigonometry', which notably inspired Srinivasa Ramanujan.[1][2][3][4]
