Ruth Martin

Ruth Martin is a literary translator who studied English (and European) literature before earning a PhD in German, with a focus on twentieth-century German literature and philosophy from the University of London, where she also lectured.[1][2][4] She has been translating fiction and nonfiction books since 2010, by authors ranging from Joseph Roth and Hannah Arendt to Shida Bazyar and Nino Haratischvili, and has taught translation at the University of Kent and Bristol Translates.[1][2][3] She is a former co-chair of the Society of Authors Translators Association and now works full-time as a translator.[1][4]
