Ruth Brown
Ruth Brown (Ruth Alston Weston) was an American rhythm and blues singer and actress born in Portsmouth, Virginia, who rose to fame in the 1950s with hits on Atlantic Records and earned the nickname "Queen of R&B." She also became known for advocating musicians’ rights and later received acclaim for her stage and screen work.
