Ruth Ben-Ghiat

Ruth Ben-Ghiat is an American history professor and political commentator at New York University specializing in fascism and authoritarianism. Born in 1960 to a Scottish mother and Israeli Sephardi Jewish father, she grew up in Pacific Palisades, California, and holds a Ph.D. in comparative history from Brandeis University. She is a prolific author, media commentator, and advisor to Protect Democracy, regularly contributing to major publications including CNN, The Atlantic, and The Washington Post.
