Ronald Takaki

Ronald Toshiyuki Takaki (April 12, 1939 – May 26, 2009) was an American academic, historian, ethnographer, and author who pioneered the field of ethnic studies. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he established the nation's first PhD program in Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley and authored over 20 books on Asian American and multicultural history, including Strangers from a Different Shore and A Different Mirror[1][2][4].
