Ronald Harwood

Sir Ronald Harwood (born Ronald Horwitz) was a South African-born British author, playwright, and screenwriter, best known for his play and film *The Dresser* and the Oscar-winning screenplay for *The Pianist*. He began his career as an actor and dresser for Sir Donald Wolfit, experiences that inspired much of his work, and wrote numerous plays, novels, and adaptations exploring theatre and human themes. Harwood was knighted in 2010 and died in 2020 at age 85.
