Roger Scruton
Sir Roger Vernon Scruton (1944-2020) was an English philosopher, writer, and social critic renowned for his work in aesthetics, political philosophy, and conservative thought. He authored over 50 books on subjects including architecture, art, politics, religion, and music, founded and edited the conservative journal The Salisbury Review, and was knighted in 2016 for services to philosophy, teaching, and public education. Scruton held academic positions such as professor of aesthetics at Birkbeck College London and served as a visiting professor at the University of Oxford.
