Robin Wall Kimmerer
Robin Wall Kimmerer (born September 13, 1953) is a Potawatomi botanist, author, plant ecologist, and SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF).[1][2] She is best known for her book Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants, which blends Western science and Indigenous knowledge, and she founded the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment.[1][3] A MacArthur Fellow (2022) and National Humanities Medal recipient (2023), she advocates for reciprocity with nature.[2]
