Robert M Haddad
Robert Mitchell Haddad was a historian and academic born in 1930 in Brooklyn, New York, to Syrian immigrant parents from Homs. He earned degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, University of Michigan, and Harvard University, taught at Smith College as Sophia Smith Professor of History and Religion from 1963 to 1993, authored 'Syrian Christians in a Muslim Society' (1970), and served as president of the American University of Beirut from 1993 to 1996. He passed away on March 8, 2024, in Orono, Maine.[1][2]
