Robert Jordan

Robert Jordan, the pen name of James Oliver Rigney Jr., was an American author best known for his epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time, which spans 14 books and a prequel. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he served in Vietnam, studied physics at The Citadel, and worked as a nuclear engineer before becoming a prolific writer, also producing Conan novels and historical fiction under other pseudonyms. He died in 2007 after battling cardiac amyloidosis.
