Robert J Gordon

Robert J. Gordon is the Stanley G. Harris Professor in the Social Sciences and Professor of Economics at Northwestern University, and one of the world's leading experts on inflation, unemployment, and long-term economic growth. He received his Ph.D. in economics from MIT in 1967 and has been at Northwestern since 1973. His best-known work, The Rise and Fall of American Growth (2016), analyzes U.S. productivity and living standards since the Civil War, arguing that major inventions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries drove unprecedented productivity growth that is unlikely to be repeated.
