Robert Gardner

Robert Grosvenor Gardner was an American anthropologist and documentary filmmaker who served as Director of the Film Study Center at Harvard University from 1956 to 1997. He is internationally renowned for his pioneering work in visual anthropology and non-fiction filmmaking, with notable films including the National Film Registry inductee 'Dead Birds' and 'Forest of Bliss'. Gardner was also an accomplished author whose works have entered the permanent canon of non-fiction filmmaking.
