Robert Barnard was an English author renowned for his detective fiction, particularly cozy mysteries influenced by Agatha Christie, blending wit and social commentary. He published 45 mystery novels between 1974 and 2012, along with short stories and critical works, while working as a lecturer and professor of English in Australia and Norway before becoming a full-time writer in Leeds. He received awards including the Cartier Diamond Dagger and multiple Edgar nominations.
