Robert Arnson
Robert Arneson (1930–1992) was a pioneering American sculptor and ceramicist, widely regarded as the father of Funk Art, an anti-establishment movement known for its satirical use of found objects and autobiographical humor. He transformed ceramics from a functional craft into a respected fine art medium through his complex, figurative sculptures and self-portraits that challenged social norms. Arneson taught at UC Davis for nearly three decades, where he established the ceramic sculpture program and influenced generations of artists.
