Robert 1752-1838 Smith

Robert Smith, 1st Baron Carrington (1752–1838), was a British banker and politician who served as Member of Parliament for Nottingham from 1779 to 1797. He was a leading figure in the Smith family banking business and was raised to the peerage in 1796–1797 for his political support of William Pitt the Younger.
