Richard Yates
Richard Yates was an American novelist and short story writer known for his unflinching portrayals of mid-20th-century American life, especially his debut novel 'Revolutionary Road' (1961), a finalist for the National Book Award. His work is characterized by naturalistic prose and a focus on characters trapped in unhappy circumstances, earning him a reputation as a 'writer's writer' despite modest commercial success. He died in 1992 in Birmingham, Alabama.
