Richard P. Brickner
Richard P. Brickner (1933-2006) was an American novelist, memoirist, and critic best known for his works exploring a car accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down, including the memoir 'My Second Twenty Years' and novels like 'The Broken Year' and 'Bringing Down the House.' Born in Manhattan, he attended Middlebury College until the 1953 accident altered his life, after which he continued a prolific writing career with additional novels such as 'Tickets' and 'After She Left.' He resided in New York City throughout his life until his death at age 72.
