Richard M. Bayles was a 19th-century American historian and editor best known for compiling and editing the 'History of Providence County, Rhode Island,' published in 1891, which includes detailed accounts of towns like Foster.[2][4][5] Born in 1810 in Mount Sinai, Brookhaven, Suffolk, New York, he lived until 1846.[1] His work remains a key resource for regional history and biography in Providence County.[2]
