Richard C. Rhodes

Richard Lee Rhodes is an American historian, journalist, and author known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning book *The Making of the Atomic Bomb* (1986), which chronicles the history of nuclear fission, the Manhattan Project, and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1937, he overcame a traumatic childhood marked by his mother's suicide when he was 13 months old and was raised by his father. Rhodes has authored over 20 books on topics including nuclear history, energy, and personal memoir, and has held academic positions at institutions like Harvard and Stanford.
