Richard Broughton

Richard Broughton (ca. 1558–1634) was an English Catholic priest, historian, and antiquarian born in Great Stukeley, Huntingdonshire. He studied at Oxford and the English College at Rheims, where he focused on Hebrew, English antiquities, and theology, before being ordained and returning to England to promote Catholicism. Broughton authored works such as 'A New Manual of Old Catholic Meditations' (1617), 'The Judgment of the Apostles' (1632), and 'Ecclesiasticall Historie of Great Britaine' (1633), noted for their laborious scholarship though criticized for inaccuracy and credulity.
