Régis Debray

Régis Debray is a French philosopher, journalist, and former government official born in 1940. He is known for his theorization of mediology, a critical theory of cultural transmission, and for his involvement with Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara in Bolivia in 1967. After his release from Bolivian imprisonment, he returned to France and held various official posts, including adviser to President François Mitterrand.
