Ralph Lucas
Ralph Lucas (1876-1955) was an entrepreneur and inventor known for his work in the design and manufacturing of early motor cars. Born in Greenwich, England, the son of telegraph engineer Francis Robert Lucas, he studied at Jesus College, Cambridge, and began his career as a draughtsman before establishing his own workshop in Westcombe Hill, Greenwich. There, he registered 15 UK and three US patents between 1899 and 1910 for engine parts, leading to the production of the Ralph Lucas Car from 1901 until around 1908.[1]
