Rajneesh
Rajneesh, born Chandra Mohan Jain, was an Indian mystic, philosopher, and founder of the Rajneesh movement, known for his controversial teachings on dynamic meditation, spirituality, and reinterpreting sannyas as worldly detachment rather than asceticism.[1][4] He gained a following after resigning from his philosophy professorship in 1966, establishing ashrams in Pune, India, and later Rajneeshpuram in Oregon, USA, amid legal conflicts including immigration violations and bioterrorism by followers.[2][3] Renaming himself Osho in the late 1980s, he continued teaching until his death in 1990.[3][4]
