Rachel Carson

Rachel Carson was an American marine biologist, writer, and environmentalist best known for her groundbreaking 1962 book "Silent Spring," which warned of the dangers of chemical pesticides and helped spark the modern environmental movement. Earlier in her career, she wrote acclaimed books about the sea, including "The Sea Around Us," and her lyrical nature writing brought scientific ideas to a wide audience.
