R. M. Ballantyne

Robert Michael Ballantyne (1825-1894) was a Scottish author renowned for his adventure stories for young readers, drawing from his personal experiences as a clerk with the Hudson's Bay Company in Canada from age 16 to 21.[1][2] His debut book, Hudson's Bay: or, Life in the Wilds of North America (1848), was followed by over 100 works including the famous The Coral Island (1858).[1][2] He dedicated his career to writing vivid tales of exploration, fur trading, and survival based on firsthand knowledge.[2][4]
