R. L. Trask
Robert Lawrence 'Larry' Trask (1944–2004) was an American-born linguist, chemist, and educator renowned for his expertise in Basque linguistics and historical linguistics. Initially trained in chemistry with degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Brandeis University, he shifted to linguistics, earning a PhD from the University of London in 1971 with a thesis on Euskara phonetics and morphology. He taught at the University of Liverpool and later at the University of Sussex, authoring key works like 'The History of Basque' (1997) and 'Language: The Basics'.
