R. Gregory Christie
Richard Gregory Christie, born July 26, 1971, in Plainfield, New Jersey, is an acclaimed American author and illustrator of children's picture books, chapter books, and middle-grade novels, best known for Coretta Scott King Award-winning works like *No Crystal Stair*, *Bad News for Outlaws*, and *Brothers in Hope*.[1][3] A freelance illustrator with over 20 years of experience, he has illustrated over 50 children's books, designed album covers for clients including The New Yorker and Rolling Stone, and owns GAS-ART GIFTS, an autographed children's bookstore in Decatur, Georgia.[2][4][6] His numerous awards include a Caldecott Honor, NAACP Image Award, six Coretta Scott King Honors, and designing the 2013 Kwanzaa Stamp for the U.S. Postal Service.[5][6]
