R Austin Freeman

R. Austin Freeman (1862–1943) was a British physician and detective fiction writer best known for creating the forensic detective Dr. John Thorndyke. He is widely credited with inventing the inverted detective story, a form that reveals the crime at the start and then follows the investigation.
