Phillip V. Tobias

Phillip Vallentine Tobias (1925–2012) was a renowned South African palaeoanthropologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, best known for his groundbreaking work on hominid fossil sites in South Africa[6]. He was a prolific author of nearly 1,000 journal articles and 33 books, and also a prominent activist for the eradication of apartheid[5][6]. Tobias was born in Durban, South Africa, and died in Johannesburg at age 86[3][5].
