Peter Trudgill

Peter Trudgill is an English sociolinguist, academic, and author born on 7 November 1943, renowned for his research on dialects of England, sociolinguistic variables like overt and covert prestige, and the geographical history of the English language. He has held positions such as Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Fribourg since 1998 and is a Fellow of the British Academy and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
