Peter Jay Shippy
Peter Jay Shippy is an American poet born in Niagara Falls and raised on his family's apple farm on the shore of Lake Ontario. He holds a BFA from Emerson College, an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, and has authored books including Thieves' Latin (2003), Alphaville (2006), How to Build the Ghost in Your Attic (2007), and A Spell of Songs (2013). Shippy has received awards such as the Iowa Poetry Prize, Gertrude Stein Award, and Diagram Prize for the Essay, along with fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Massachusetts Cultural Council, and his poetry appeared in The Best American Poetry in 2012 and 2013.[1][3][5][6]
