Peter Barnes
Peter Barnes (1931–2004) was an English Olivier Award-winning playwright and screenwriter best known for his baroque comedy *The Ruling Class* (1968), which was adapted into a 1972 film that earned Peter O'Toole an Oscar nomination. He wrote widely for theatre, film, radio, and television, earning critical acclaim for his dark historical comedies and receiving an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay for *Enchanted April* (1992).
