Peter Abrahams
Peter Henry Abrahams was a South African-born novelist, journalist, and political commentator known for his powerful depictions of racial injustices in South Africa. Born in Vrededorp near Johannesburg, he left South Africa in 1939, became involved in Pan-Africanism, and settled in Jamaica in 1956 where he continued his writing career and worked in journalism and politics. His notable works include 'Mine Boy' (1946), the first internationally acclaimed South African novel in English by a black author, and memoirs like 'Tell Freedom'.
