Pentti B 1883 Eskola

Pentti Elias Eskola (1883–1964) was a Finnish geologist who specialized in petrology and developed the concept of metamorphic facies, establishing a classification scheme for metamorphic rocks based on mineral assemblages. He was a leading petrologist who held honorary degrees from multiple European universities and received prestigious awards including the Wollaston Medal (1958) and Vetlesen Prize (1964). The mineral eskolaite was named in his honor.
