PD James
P. D. James (1920-2014) was a bestselling British crime writer best known for her detective novels featuring poet-detective Adam Dalgliesh of Scotland Yard. She worked for over thirty years in the National Health Service and the Home Office, drawing on this experience in her intricate plots exploring crime, morality, and human nature. Her works, translated into 36 languages, earned her numerous awards including the CWA Diamond Dagger and Mystery Writers of America Grandmaster Award, and she was made a life peer as Baroness James of Holland Park in 1991.
