Paulette Bourgeois
Paulette Bourgeois is a Canadian author best known for creating the beloved children's book character Franklin the Turtle, appearing in over 30 picture books illustrated by Brenda Clark that teach lessons on friendship, bravery, and childhood challenges.[1][2][5] Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she earned a B.Sc. in occupational therapy from the University of Western Ontario, worked as a therapist and reporter for CBC, before becoming a freelance writer in 1981.[1][3] She has been honored as a Member of the Order of Canada in 2003 and received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from her alma mater in 2007.[3][5]
